Beard Care Tips
Beards are in! Whether you’re currently in the process of growing your facial hair or already have a full beard, beard care is a vital part of everyday grooming. Your facial hair requires more attention and maintenance as it’s prone to damage, split ends, and thinning. Below you’ll find some helpful tips that will keep your beard looking smooth and healthy all year long.
Use Beard Oil
Beard oil is one of the best ways to keep your facial hair moisturized and soft. If you don’t use beard oil, consider buying one that contains natural ingredients like jojoba oil or argan oil. These oils help condition the skin underneath your beard while also giving the hair an extra boost of shine and nourishment. Once you’ve found an oil that works well for your face, apply it once daily after showering or washing your face, so the pores are open and able to absorb the nutrients from the product.
Trimming is essential if you want to maintain a healthy-looking beard because it helps shape the beard while also preventing split ends from forming at the end of each strand of hair. You should trim at least once every two weeks or whenever needed depending on how fast your beard grows.
Wash with Shampoo
A lot of men don’t wash their beards with shampoo because they believe it will dry out their skin or cause breakouts under their chin; however, this couldn’t be farther from the truth! Using shampoo on your facial hair cleanses away dirt and oil buildup but does not strip away essential oils as soap does. If you suffer from oily skin or breakouts under the chin area, try using an anti-dandruff shampoo.
Drink Enough Water
Make sure that you are drinking enough water every day. Water will help flush out toxins from your body, which is important for proper beard health. You should aim to drink at least eight glasses of water per day. If you are taller or heavier, you may need to drink more. Try adding a splash of lemon or lime juice to your water for an added boost of vitamin C and citric acid, which will help strengthen your hair follicles.
